Pascalloy™

Alloy Overview

Pascalloy™ is a high strength non-magnetic superalloy with excellent corrosion resistance. The alloy is heat treatable to a wide variety of conditions. Prior to heat treatment the material is ductile, showing elongation greater than 50% and a UTS of ~800 MPa (~116 ksi). Heat treatment can provide any intermediate strength and hardness up to a maximum of ~2,200 MPa (~319 ksi) and 60 HRC respectively. Pascalloy is a domestically manufactured alloy with fine-tuned composition, hot/cold working, aging and heat treatment to ensure the best mechanical properties. Pascalloy™ is available without a minimum quantity requirement to benefit the research community. Stocked material is available in both the heat treated condition for the highest hardness and strength, as well as in the soft condition.

Mechanical Properties (Full Hard Condition)
Pascalloy™ is heat treatable to exceptional hardness and strength. A hardness of up to approximately 60 HRC is achievable. The data tabulated below is for the full-hard condition, but intermediate heat treats are possible. When supplied in the soft condition prior to heat treat the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) is ~800 MPa (~116 ksi) and the elongation at failure is >50% – very ductile, machinable, and workable (see green tensile curve to the left). If a less hard material is desired with greater elongation at failure, a heat treat held at 740°C for two hours will results in a yield strength (YS) of 1,750 MPa and a UTS of 1,950 MPa and an elongation at failure of ~7.25% and hardness 55-57 HRC. Compare these values with 440C stainless steel: 1,660 YS, 1,790 UTS, and 4% elongation.

Pascalloy™ also has excellent high and low temperature properties, and finds use in cryogenic applications.
